THE JENNIFER BELL SINGING COMPANY takes an exciting new approach to live music performance.

THE PERFORMANCES sit somewhere between a concert and theatre show, often presenting verbatim or true stories, both as sung or spoken text. Jennifer composes unaccompanied vocal pieces that cross stylistic boundaries, influenced by folk, jazz and dance music. The songs are modern stories, told without acting, by singers with unique voices.

The pieces are often delivered in unconventional locations. We are interested in extending the reach of live performance, so shows roam outlandishly, from theatre venues, to galleries, to the workplace or bus stop. The most recent live piece was staged as a song tour around the Houses of Parliament, working with verbatim text from interviews with people who work at Westminster. Hear more about it here.

The company creates work across platforms and has recently collaborated with BBC radio producer Beth O'Dea, on a standalone version of Bread and Butter for BBC Radio 4. We have also worked with film maker Freya Billington on her short film adaptation.

THE SINGERS are ANDY MARSHALL, ELLIE SHOWERING, NATALIE FARR, MELLA FAYE, KATY TUCKER, JEN BELL, BLYTHE PEPINO & HARRY HUMBERSTONE. They are creative devisors and are each musicians and songwriters in their own right. Their practice is experimental and adventurous, with emphasis on physicality and sincerity.
